NDIS Cuts – Have Your Say!

URGENT!  Survey closes Sunday 24th May 2026

The Australian Government has introduced their ‘Securing the NDIS for Future Generations’ Bill into Parliament.

These changes affect:

  • Who can access the NDIS.
  • What supports will be funded.
  • How plans will be reviewed.
  • How providers work (provider registration, panel providers and block funding).
  • How the NDIA deals with fraud, claiming errors and misuse.

The Government also aims to:

  • Cut Social and Community Participation funding to NDIS Participants by 50%.
  • Cut Capacity Building funding by 10%.
  • Change NDIS eligibility to reduce the number of expected NDIS participants in 2030 down from 900,000 to 600,000. There are currently 760,000 participants.

SWAN are strongly against this Bill, and so are almost 90% of the more than 1,300 people who responded to our survey.  The NDIS Bill has not been passed by the Government yet – so there is still time to to take action!

Make a submission

The Government Inquiry into the NDIS Bill is open for only two weeks.  Submissions must be made by the 29th May 2026.

Anyone can make a submission. to the Inquiry.  The submission needs to be in your own words, because the Inquiry will ignore mass emails that all have the same wording.

When making a submission, your statement is protected by Parliamentary privilege, as long as you only publish the version of your submission that Senate Committee publish on the Inquiry website.  You can also ask to make your submission anonymous.  This means that your submission would be published on the website with your name withheld.

In your submission:
  1. Tell the Government what you think they should do with the Bill eg. ‘This Bill must not be passed’, ‘This Bill should only be passed if these changes are made _________’, or ‘This Bill should be passed’.  We suggest saying this at the start and repeat it at the end of your submission.
  2. Write 1-3 paragraphs about who you are, and why this is important to you.
  3. Write what your concerns are about the Bill.  If there are things in the Bill that you support, write that too.
  4. Upload your submission to the Inquiry.  You will need to sign in to ‘My Parliament’ to do this.  Alternately you can email your submission to community.affairs.sen@aph.gov.au.  If you email your submission, it’s a good idea to also phone (02) 6277 3515 to check that it’s been received.

Below is some more information to help you write a submission of your own.  You can use AI to help write your submission, but make sure you check it and edit it before you submit your statement.
